Jeopardy!

SOUNDS ALL AROUND // TV CROSSOVERS // “U-G-H” BUT NOT “UGH”! // SAY YOUR PRAYERS // HAIL, MARY // OUR FATHER

DD1 – $800 – SAY YOUR PRAYERS – “O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you”, begins the act of this, a synonym for repentance (Quentin dropped $1,000.)

Scores at first break: Quentin $1,600, Cory $4,200, Nishal $2,200.

Scores entering DJ: Quentin $3,000, Cory $7,400, Nishal $2,400.

Double Jeopardy!

THEIR FIRST STUDIO ALBUM // EPONYMS // POETS // FLOWERS // ASIA MAJOR // THE 18th CENTURY WORLD WITH JAMES FRASER

DD2 – $1,200 – POETS – Best known for writing about Lady Liberty, she penned “Venus of the Louvre” about a different statue (Cory improved by $2,000 up to $15,000 vs. $7,000 for Quentin.)

DD3 – $800 – FLOWERS – A contemporary of Linnaeus, German botanist Traugott Gerber has a variety of this flower named in his honor (Late in the round from third place with $7,200 vs. $15,400 for Cory, Nishal bet just $2,000 and missed.)

Cory was correct on DD2 while both opponents found a DD and missed, helping Cory score a narrow runaway into FJ at $17,400 vs. $8,000 for Nishal and $5,000 for Quentin.

Final Jeopardy!

21ST CENTURY HEROES – In his memoir, he referenced Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds” while writing about a near-disaster

Everyone was correct on FJ. Cory added $530 to win with $17,930.

Final scores: Quentin $9,999, Cory $17,930, Nishal $11,001.

Triple Stumper of the day: For a top-row clue about the big cat traditionally referenced in the opening of Korean fairy tales, after Quentin missed with lions, no one took a chance on tigers.

Clue selection strategy: With both DDs in DJ remaining, the players chose four times from the guest-presented category, where DDs are rarely if ever located. Then, after scoring on DD2 with DD3 still on the board, Cory chose twice from the top row.

Correct Qs: DD1 – What is contrition? DD2 – Who was Lazarus? DD3 – What is daisy? FJ – Who is “Sully” Sullenberger?
