The Tabletop Games Thread Forgets (11/5/25)

Welcome back to the weekly Tabletop Games thread! This thread is where we can talk about all kinds of RPGs, card games, board games, etc. Whether you gather around a physical table in the real world, or use a virtual space to play with friends who may live far away from you, this is where you can discuss your favorites, ask for and/or receive recommendations, recap your recent adventures, or even find some people to play games with!

Discussion Prompt: The Forgotten Realms has long been the ‘default’ setting for D&D 5e, but Wizards of the Coast recently released their first official sourcebooks for the setting (not counting the much-maligned Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide), with Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun. The world is kind of a hodge-podge collection of different settings designed to fit all kinds of styles of play. Your standard adventuring party might travel up and down the Sword Coast hunting owlbears, making stops at big cities like Waterdeep or Baldur’s Gate for more urban adventures. You might visit the land of Cormyr for more courtly intrigue, or the Moonshae Isles if you want a Celtic faerie flavor. Or travel through the frozen tundra of Icewind Dale, or down into the Underdark to visit the drow city of Menzoberranzan.

What do you like or dislike about the Forgotten Realms as a setting for your D&D games?

If you would like to suggest a prompt or contribute a write-up or discussion topic of your own, let me know in the comments!
