Let’s discuss any and all music here. Got a new artist who’s rocking your boat that you want to talk about? Post a video! Found out about that unearthed Coltrane album that has the jazz freak in you losing your mind? Lay it out for us! Have a theory about what your favorite band might do for their next album? Let’s hear it! Anything and everything music-related goes here.
This week’s discussion prompt was suggested by The Avocado’s very own Pastyjournalist:
Artists you discovered through “unusual entry points”
As Pastyjournalist described in their original post, “I was an MTV kid, so, I was well familiar with Talking Heads, but Naked was the first album I listened to, front-to-back…this type of exposure made me a fan of discovering bands through unusual entry points (e.g. a mid-career plateau album instead of a band’s ‘classic’ album).”
So what artists did you discover via a “weird” point of entry? Was it a mid-to-late career album? An album that received poor reviews or is not considered “representative” of their sound? Was it from a track off of a compilation, or one of those “Music from and Inspired by the Film” cash-grab CDs that were ubiquitous in the nineties? Was it via a movie or a TV show or a commercial or a TikTok? Let us know down below!
As always, any and all music-related posts are welcome. Have fun, and rock out with yr guac out!
