Weird Al just began his summer tour last week, and there were some fun surprises in the set list – songs he’s never performed live before. One of those is a personal favorite, his They Might Be Giants pastiche “Everything You Know Is Wrong”. (The only recording on YouTube cuts off the beginning of the song, so here’s a link to the ancient viral Flash animation of the song because at The Avocado we are nothing if not thorough.)
Al also included “Ricky” in the medley; that one technically wasn’t a live premiere, but was the first time he’s performed it live since 1984. There is a video of him performing that song in 1984 and it’s worth checking out, because legendary voice actress Tress MacNeille performed the Lucy part, as she did on the studio recording.
