(We will not set clearly delineated boundaries on who qualifies as a ‘person of color.’ As a starting point, this thread uses the definition of ‘non-European heritage of sufficient prominence to affect one’s navigation of a society built on white normativity.’ However, we recognize that there are identities which skirt either side of the divide. If people feel that they meaningfully experience the identity of being a person of color, then they are welcome to participate.)
Hello everyone 👋🏽. Hope y’all are doing well.
I originally planned to talk a bit more about my trip to the motherland last month, but then it came to my attention that there were (& are) those of us who maybe struggling with the new US administrations attacks on DEI. So I thought it sensible to try to highlight & make this space more available for such issues.
I also wanted to wish anyone observing the Islamic holy month of Ramadan a good one & a good iftar 🙏🏽.
