When Nintendo released their miniature NES and SNES Classic Consoles, fans speculated that the GameBoy would be next. Independent companies have picked up the slack creating their own miniature handheld consoles.
One of the smallest is the FunKey S. The device measures 42.5mm x 44.5mm x 13.8 mm. Closing the clamshell puts the machine in sleep mode and saves your game progress. Tons of indie handheld consoles have released since then, but the FunKey’s software and shape give it a unique spot on the market.
I’ve had mine since 2021. Not everyone wants a tiny console. But I found it a surprisingly powerful, and playable, device.
