Jessica Wakefield smirked as she watched cheerleader tryouts. The girls this year weren’t up to her caliber, but in Sweet Valley, very few girls were. Too fat, too short, too brunette. All-American girls just aren’t as plentiful as the world likes to think.
“Did someone say ALL-AMERICAN?” Jessica startled when a voice suddenly spoke from behind her. It was indistinctly European and Jessica couldn’t recall a student who had a voice like that. She whirled around and was met with a large, metallic man in a deep green tunic. Wait, did he read her mind?
“That was not me but Doombot DP-60441. It can process the psionic waves your brain produces and relays the translation to me,” Doctor Doom explained.
Not only was Doom a nerd, but a Peeping Tom too! There was no way Jessica would ever allow him to join her cheerleading squad. She needn’t worry though as there was no chance of Doom executing the most difficult cheerleading trick- the human pyramid.
“FOOLS!” Doom exclaimed. “This ‘human’ pyramid will be a piece of beet pie, a Latverian delicacy, as my assistants are not humans but DOOMBOTS!”
Doctor Doom and his Doombots assembled into a shiny pyramid with ease but they were one ‘person’ short. Jessica made her way up the pyramid to her deserved spot at the top, as she is the captain of the cheerleading squad. Much to Jessica’s disappointment, the pyramid was very sturdy. This wouldn’t do.
Looking up, Jessica noticed a sparking wire hanging from the gym’s light. Jessica gestured to Lila Fowler and Suzanne Devlin to grab the hose. With her strong, slender legs, Jessica used her award winning herkey to grab the wire loose as Lila and Suzanne spray the Dooms. The wire fell onto Doom’s armor and the entire pyramid fell in a bright flash with Jessica landing gracefully on the top.
“Avenge me, Valeria,” Doom whispered with his final breath.
“Jessica, quit playing with your food and come join us!” Lila chided her best friend.
Jessica giggled as she made her way down the pile of bodies. Kids these days just don’t have what it takes to be a cheerleader.
