The first Presidential debate of the 2024 election will air tonight at 9 PM. This will be the first time a sitting President will face off against a former President in the modern era. President Joe Biden and Ex-President/ Felon Donald Trump. Quite why we’re all being forced to re-litigate this decision is either a punishment from a hate-filled and angry god or our own country’s inability to hold wealthy criminals to account. But I digress.
The debate will be the earliest of its kind in US history. Typically, debates hosted by the Commission on Presidential Debates take place in September or October. However, neither candidate is currently on board with the Fall debates, following the RNC’s unanimous vote to pull out of the debates and Biden’s subsequent withdrawal. Nevertheless, the Commission remains open to hosting those debates come Autumn. The earlier debates are seen by some as a way to get voters engaged and the campaign on-message.
The debate will be moderated by Jake Tapper and Dana Bash. The participants will have two minutes to answer the question, one minute to rebut. There will also be a muting feature on the candidates’ microphones. Well thank goodness for small miracles.
Biden has been holed up at Camp David going over and over different ways that Trump might attack. Trump remains unorthodox in his debating style, though his tendency to interrupt and speak over other people might leave him completely muted through the debate. Biden intends to focus on getting people aware of Project 2025: an agenda aimed at completely remaking the Federal government mostly answerable to a hypothetical Republican President. He will also likely hammer Trump on abortion access.

The Covid-19 pandemic continues even if the emergencies end, continue to vaccinate using the latest version of the FDA approved vaccines by Phizer and Moderna. Even if you are vaccinated, please continue to maintain social distancing measures, wear masks in public areas in accordance with CDC guidelines in regard to your own vaccination status.Also, according to recent polls approximately 50% of adults are not planning on getting their Covid-19 boosters.
