Jeopardy! recap for Fri., May 3

Here are today’s contestants:

Jeopardy!

NON-CAT & DOG PETS // PRESIDENTIAL HOMES // BIG SIR // A NUMBER FROM 1 TO 10 // WORLD SERIES MVPs // CALLING “HR”

DD1 – $600 – PRESIDENTIAL HOMES – In 1823 Andrew Jackson donated land from this home to build a house of worship called Ephesus Church (With $0, Weckiai lost $1,000.)

Scores at first break: Weckiai $200, Deana $0, Henry $3,200.

Scores entering DJ: Weckiai $1,800, Deana $2,600, Henry $4,600.

Double Jeopardy!

STARTS WITH AN ANIMAL // ON CINEMA AT THE CINEMA // WORLD GEOGRAPHY // POETS & POETRY // WHEN I DIE // DELETE MY HISTORY

DD2 – $2,000 – STARTS WITH AN ANIMAL – Part of the limbic system, this structure in the brain is thought to play a role in spatial navigation (Henry added $3,000 to improve to $11,200.)

DD3 – $1,600 – POETS & POETRY – His “The Runaway” is not even his most famous poem with a horse in falling snow (From third place with $1,600, Weckiai lost $1,000.)

Weckiai just never got rolling, while Deana scored on the last two clues of DJ to edge out Henry for first place into FJ with $9,400 vs. $8,800 for Henry and $3,600 for Weckiai.

Final Jeopardy!

1990s NO. 1 SONGS – This title character of the top song from 1996 can’t stand her boyfriend Vitorino & spurns him to be with his 2 friends

Only Weckiai was correct on FJ, doubling to win with $7,200 for a three-day total of $35,200. Note that Henry chose to go with a big bet from a close second place, rather than going small to lock out Weckiai and hoping for Deana to miss.

Final scores: Weckiai $7,200, Deana $1,999, Henry $1,000.

Sports stumbles: The players mostly avoided the baseball category and missed three out of five, including all-time hit king from the 70s Reds, Pete Rose. The writers seem to think that “solid bet” is a major hint, but for a lot of younger people, that situation is probably in the “that’s before my time” file.

Correct Qs: DD1 – What is the Hermitage? DD2 – What is hippocampus? DD3 – Who was Frost? FJ – What is “Macarena”?
