Here’s the next round, Tournament voters! I’ll keep it open until Saturday, 8PM Eastern.
Round 2 tidbits:
The biggest beat-down of the night came courtesy of Aretha Franklin’s “Respect,” which savaged Save Ferris’ “Come on Eileen” 59-3.
There were two ties at the end. Here’s how I broke them.
“Valerie” by Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse over “Renegades of Funk” by Rage Against the Machine. Both good songs, but “Valerie” is such a bop. Besides, I can’t vote for Paul Ryan’s favorite band.
“It’s My Life” by No Doubt over “Obsession” by Animotion. I had to sleep on this one. Both songs I love. But though it was close I eventually fell on the side of No Doubt.
For upset victories, “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” by Guns N Roses was a respectable 45th seed, but from way back in 173, “Only Love can Break Your Heart” by Saint Etienne knocked it out in a squeaker, 23-21.
