We’re going to spend a few days hitting up the realm of console wars and essentially making them a free-for-all for that period, the machines of the time, the games, and all the things that made it awesome and horrible. First up is the 8-bit era which was made up of the war between the Nintendo Entertainment System, the Sega Master System, and the Atari 7800.
For reference in terms of unit sales:
- Nintendo Entertainment System – 61.91 million (Japan: 19.35 million, Americas: 34 million, Other: 8.56 million)
- Sega Master System – 13 million (Japan: 8 million, United States: 2 million, Western Europe: 1 million, Brazil: 1 million, South Korea: 1 million)
- Atari 7800 – 3.77 million
