Well, that was a really fun tournament! At least for me. It was also 7 weeks long, so I’m ready for a bit of a break. Though, I don’t think it was anywhere near as fatiguing as I feared. There certainly wasn’t a drop-off in votes at the end; the main variance seemed to come from weekends/holidays creating low traffic in general. With that in mind, here are my preliminary plans for the next one.
- Covers 1996-2000
- Starts in mid to late March
- Avoids scheduling rounds on weekends/major US holidays
- Use new rules for group stages (see below)

Top X songs per group earn berths, same as before. The wild card, however, will not have a fixed size. Rather, the lowest vote total of any song to finish in the top X of its group will set a baseline. Any song that finished outside of the top X but got at least that many votes will move on as wild cards.1If these rules were in place for this tournament, any song that got at least 10 votes would have survived as a wild card Byes will be distributed as necessary in the first elimination round to get us to a power of 2.
