Hey, all; Happy first Friday of a new decade –
As we collectively claw our way back from the Great Borking of 2019, and collectively steel ourselves for whatever these new ’20’s might roar at us. (It feels so weird to think we’re going to have to qualify that, now) I feel that it’s important that we all try to focus on the positive. It’s a new year, a new decade, and we have once again that rare, fleeting, opportunity: for rejuvenation, for reinvention, to effectively take the idea of your personal Self, and, to crib from the late, great Robin Williams, turn it into a goddamned Etch-A-Sketch.
As hokey as some might find the concept, there’s a reason that the idea has stuck around for as long it has, it’s useful, it’s practical, and it’s freeing; in both a personal and professional sense. That is, of course, should one deign to actually make use of it.
Well, I can’t speak for you, my fellow drones, but I’ve got a a yen to end my third decade on a higher note than what it came in on; personally, and professionally. (that is to say, once my boss gets back from paternity leave. It’s a hell of realization to come to of having of one’s life plans upended by someone who can’t yet form cogent thoughts) How about yourselves? Believe me, I know how easy it is to fall into the trap of “same shit, different year,” but I hope that at least a few of you might be looking to avoid that; or, at the very least, crawl away from the trap with only minor injuries.
That, and anything else you might have stewing are all on the table, so, go to it. As ever, have a productive rest of the day, safe trip home, and a great weekend. And remember; as a great scientist once said: Your future is what you make it, so make it a good one.
