The Dario Cueto Day Thread (July 5, 2019)

Avocado Day Thread

Dario Cueto was the mercurial and capricious owner and proprietor of Lucha Underground, with his Temple dedicated to violence located in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles.

With his endless, and no doubt ill-gotten riches, Cueto brought the greatest fighters in the world to the Temple so they could rend each other apart for cash, for championships, and sometimes, to simply avoid death itself. With his office mere feet from the ring, he would watch with delight the carnage unfold before him, and offer “unique opportunities” to the underworld monsters, creepy lizard-men, dirty undercover cops and shady gangsters who dared enter his realm.

Unfortunately he was shot to death by a hitman contracted by his own father, Antonio. The time-traveller Aerostar, however, used an ancient Aztec medallion imbued with supernatural powers to resurrect him.

To what end? Sadly it seems we will never know. Whilst not explicitly cancelled, it looks like Lucha Underground is deader than Dario’s zombie half-brother Matanza.

Dario was played by the wonderful Luis Fernandez-Gil in his full throat-rasping, scenery-chewing glory.

Enjoy your night, everyone!
