Sports Corner – August 29

Let’s tip out hat to Manu Ginóbili, who announced his retirement Monday after 16 years with the San Antonio Spurs.  Manu’s career included four NBA titles, an Olympic gold medal with his native Argentina, a Sixth Man award, and an Euroleague title before he came to America.  Even without his international career Manu would be a serious candidate for the Hall of Fame.  With it, he’s a shoo-in. His presence in San Antonio will be missed, and marks the end of the era that began when he arrived in 2002 and joined Tim Duncan and Tony Parker.  The Spurs will no doubt endure, but it will not be the same.
