Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Mar. 28

Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Mar. 28 – Today’s contestants are:

– Emily, a nanny from Birmingham, MI, whose cat is terrified of the Jeopardy! opening;
– Joey, a substitute teacher from Newington, CT, who drove a long way in a shaky car to see The Rock; and
– Dimitri, a management and production assistant from Los Angeles, CA, who drove Sir Ben Kingsley and became a “squire”. Dimitri is a one-day champ with winnings of $23,601.

Alex wished for big scores but got the opposite, as Joey lost nearly everything on DD2 but was able to recover, leading into FJ with $7,900 vs. $6,600 for Emily and $5,800 for Dimitri.

DD1 – Not seen

DD2 – LEAGUES – In the 19th century the Land League on this island sought to gain more rights from their British landlords (Joey lost $5,000 of his $5,600.)

DD3 (video) – PIPE SHOW – These are your standard PVC pipes, PVC short for this (Joey won $1,300)

FJ – MUSICAL THEATER – This show has songs that weren’t in the 1992 film it was based on, like “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” & “How Will I Know”

Astonishingly, for the second straight day, the FJ leader in a close three-way game didn’t bet enough to cover the trailing players and lost despite being correct. Everyone got FJ, Emily took the lead with her $5,001 wager, and her score of $11,601 held up when it was revealed that Joey bet $0.

Note that on DD3, if Joey had gone all-in again and wagered his entire $5,000, he would have had enough of a cushion for FJ to make a small wager that would have covered double of Emily’s score, so his correct response would have won the game.

Triple Stumpers of the day: Fans of old TV Westerns should know that an area of dense shrubs found in Southern California is a “chaparral”, and in a category about cat-related songs, no one was familiar with The Cure’s “The Love Cats”.

Judging the writers: A clue referred to the “quartet” that sang “Our House”, but according to Wikipedia, only Crosby, Stills and Nash were credited as personnel on that original recording, although the album it appeared on included Young.

Correct Qs:

DD2 – What is Ireland?
DD3 – What is polyvinyl chloride?
FJ – What is “The Bodyguard”?
