The Tabletop Games Thread Takes the Train (8/26/26)

Welcome back to the weekly Tabletop Games thread! This thread is where we can talk about all kinds of RPGs, card games, board games, etc. Whether you gather around a physical table in the real world, or use a virtual space to play with friends who may live far away from you, this is where you can discuss your favorites, ask for and/or receive recommendations, recap your recent adventures, or even find some people to play games with!

Discussion Prompt: From Murder on the Orient Express, to classic Western-style train robberies, to modern horror fare like Train to Busan, trains seem to have taken root in the collective consciousness since they were invented and never left. So it’s no surprise that trains have spread into many different media, not the least of which is tabletop games. Eberron’s lightning rail and Ginny Di’s new Fey Train adventure are prime examples using trains for a D&D-style RPG. Deborah Ann Woll’s actual play Children of Earte (which aired on Demiplane) is another. And of course, there are even classic board games that feature trains, like Ticket to Ride. What are your favorite train-based tabletop games and/or RPG adventures?

If you would like to suggest a prompt or contribute a write-up or discussion topic of your own, let me know in the comments!
