Disney Animated Canon Tournament – Round 4

We’re nearing the end, folks, with only eight films remaining.

As was to be expected, the Holy Quartet of The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King all won their matchups last round (eliminating Alice in Wonderland, Lilo & Stitch, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and The Princess and the Frog)- and unless this round has some surprise upsets, it seems quite likely they’ll end up being our Final Four.

Of course, this tournament has had its dark horse victories. Quite surprisingly, Robin Hood and The Rescuers are both still in the race, the former having triumphed over Sleeping Beauty 38-to-30, and the latter narrowly coming out ahead of The Emperor’s New Groove 36-to-33. If you’d asked me at the beginning of this tournament which films would make it this far, those two would’ve been far from the top of my list.

Will the 1970’s furry-awakening flicks be able to go all the way to the gold? Or will the Disney Renaissance once again crush all competition?

(There’s also still Fantasia and Mulan in the mix, having defeated Snow White and The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, respectively, and I feel like I’m never certain which way the votes for those are gonna go.)

Time to let the voters decide. Away we go!
