Picture it: one year ago today, it was a day like any other, I was hanging out watching the latest episode of CDTV with Ralph. But not that closely, he was probably playing chess, and I was just happy to hear some new music and test my Japanese listening and reading comprehension skills. Waiting for Mrs. GREEN APPLE to perform, most likely. We had no idea that something was about to happen that would change me in truly inconceivable ways, that I was about to be given such a profoundly wonderful gift. The fact that it happened with Ralph there just makes it all the more memorable and special to me. I’ve already written about the exact moment that &TEAM hooked me here, so feel free to read that if you want to laugh.
Today I want to thank all of you for being kind and supportive as I screamed about &TEAM here. I know it might sound silly, but &TEAM (and being a LUNÉ — that’s the fandom name) has brought an immeasurable amount of joy and love into my life this year. I have made new friends from all over the world, embraced things that I always wanted to try but was too scared to, I’m more motivated and dedicated to my Japanese studies, I’ve discovered new creative hobbies, I’m braver and more willing to do things like travel to Japan to study and go to a concert alone (and then again with my new friends!) and I have listened to so many great songs and artists that I never would have if I hadn’t first fallen in love with &TEAM.1Looking at you Taemin and SHINee My world has truly expanded in unexpected and delightful ways!
Most importantly, following &TEAM has meant that I have something special and fun to look forward to every single day. Even if it’s just a small thing, there is always something to make me smile.2Not that I was miserable before 😅 I realize as I write this it could sound like that. But I just mean, there were some really tough things this year, more than others, and &TEAM helped a lot! And if I couldn’t share some of that joy here, it wouldn’t have been nearly as fun. So thank you for saying things like “It’s not a waste of time if you enjoy it” “Cute!” “That you wanted to share it is the only reason you need” “How do you pronounce their name?” “darnbeautifulmen.gif”3Genuinely this gif always makes me laugh “I’m interested” “&TEAM merch spotted!” “I love this for you” “Good luck!” “Happy for you!” “Congratulations!” etc. Words mean a lot to this silly fan, so thank you! 🫶
