Welcome back to the weekly Tabletop Games thread! This thread is where we can talk about all kinds of RPGs, card games, board games, etc. Whether you gather around a physical table in the real world, or use a virtual space to play with friends who may live far away from you, this is where you can discuss your favorites, ask for and/or receive recommendations, recap your recent adventures, or even find some people to play games with!
Discussion Prompt: While a lot of TTRPGs focus on Medieval European Fantasy or futuristic Science Fiction, there is a subsection of games that straddle the line between the two–Superhero games. There are a bunch of different games that are based on superhero comics and all of the attending tropes of the genre, from the d20-based Mutants & Masterminds, to the Powered by the Apocalypse game Masks: A New Generation, to the fast-paced 2d6 system of BASH!, to the fully licensed “616” die system of the Marvel Multiverse RPG. All are designed to let players feel like they’re faster than a speeding bullet or get a feel for the great responsibility that comes with great power. What are some of your favorite Superhero games?
If you would like to suggest a prompt or contribute a write-up or discussion topic of your own, let me know in the comments!
