Welcome back to the weekly Tabletop Games thread! This thread is where we can talk about all kinds of RPGs, card games, board games, etc. Whether you gather around a physical table in the real world, or use a virtual space to play with friends who may live far away from you, this is where you can discuss your favorites, ask for and/or receive recommendations, recap your recent adventures, or even find some people to play games with!
Discussion Prompt: Candela Obscura is an investigative horror RPG published by Darrington Press, in which players take on the roles of investigators working for a secret society dedicated to protecting the world from magical incursions and keeping them secret. It’s set in a world similar to early-1900s Earth, but where eldritch horrors frequently bleed through the barrier between realms. The game uses a d6 dice pool system, inspired by the Blades in the Dark system, and is designed for relatively short, character-driven narrative-focused games.
Have you played Candela Obscura, or have you seen any of the actual-play miniseries run by Critical Role? If so, what did you think? My group is planning give it a try (we’re doing a Session Zero this weekend), so I’ll be sure to report back!
If you would like to suggest a prompt or contribute a write-up or discussion topic of your own, let me know in the comments!
