Jeopardy! recap for Tue., Dec. 30

Here are today’s Second Chance contestants:

Jeopardy!

LITERATURE OF ITS ERA // TIME FOR “SECOND”s // THAT’S CONSTITUTIONAL // CELEBRITIES // GET THAT PAPER // GRUB HUB

DD1 – 600 – THAT’S CONSTITUTIONAL – “Each state shall have at least one representative”; Delaware & this 13th state got exactly that… one (Emily lost 1,000.)

Scores at first break: Emily 200, Dondi 4,200, Ricky 3,000.

Scores entering DJ: Emily 1,400, Dondi 7,200, Ricky 4,800.

Double Jeopardy!

WINNING IS DIFFICULT! // ARCHITECTURE // ONLY CONNECT // WHAT HAPPENS IN ONSCREEN VEGAS // IN THE DICTIONARY // MISH-MAPS

DD2 – 1,600 – ARCHITECTURE – Le Corbusier inspired this crudely named “ism” marked by exposed structures & the heavy-feeling use of raw concrete (Emily doubled to 5,200 and moved into second.)

DD3 – 1,600 – MISH-MAPS – The capital of Haiti relocates to a maritime province of Canada & becomes this (From third place, Ricky doubled to 8,000.)

Emily and Ricky both doubled up in DJ, but they didn’t have a lot of points to wager early in the round, so Dondi kept the lead into FJ at 17,200 vs. 13,600 for Emily and 12,400 for Ricky.

Final Jeopardy!

ANIMAL NAMES – Those returning from a 1920s expedition to Asia popularized this name for the Buaja Darat, or land crocodile

Dondi and Emily were correct on fJ, with Dondi adding 10,001 to advance with 27,201.

Final scores: Emily 26,600, Dondi 27,201, Ricky 7,400.

Triple Stumper of the day: No one knew the word for both the process of sending a criminal suspect to another country, or a musical performance, is rendition.

Correct Qs: DD1 – What is Rhode Island? DD2 – What is brutalism? DD3 – What is Port-au-Prince Edward Island? FJ – What is Komodo dragon? (Dondi wrote “Kimodo”, and the judges ruled that’s pronounced the same as “Komodo”. It’s really not, but I guess that explanation sounds better than “Close enough, we decided not to be super-pedantic today”.)
