Optional Discussion Topic: Characters
How do you come up with good characters? Do they pop into your head, fully formed? Are they loosely based on real people (maybe yourself)? Do you sit down and come up with their motivations, likes, dislikes, and fears before you start writing, or do you let all that stuff come out as you write?
