I mostly take wildlife photos, but have been recently taking pictures of many other things. This week: Scaups! Scaups are a migrating Duck that, like most migrating birds, come to the waterways of Cape Cod in search of food. They come in two varieties; the Greater Scaup and the Lesser Scaup. The two species are mostly identical with the Greater being slightly larger. The Males have a mostly white/grey body with a black head and breast, and a brownish tail. Females are mostly various shades of brown with a black face and a white trim. Both genders have striking yellow/orange eyes. They are mostly a silent bird, and tend to be rather skittish. I wouldn’t exactly call them rare, but I don’t come across them too often; when I do I, of course, jump at the chance to take a picture of them. Here’s some of the shots I’ve a taken if them
