Now here we have the Pits category for the true intellectuals of The Avocado. If you’ve been reading books in 2024, please comment with your picks for Best Fiction Book of 2024 and Best Non-Fiction Book of 2024.
Comments supporting anything you’ve read and enjoyed this year are welcomed! To vote all you have to do is list your picks for the separate categories. You can either submit an unranked list or a ranked list of your Top 10. (Of course, ballots with less than 10 are fine, just list as many as you’ve read.) Ranked lists get awarded scaled points: 10 points for #1, 9 points for #2, 8 points for #3, and so on. Unranked lists get 5 points each. These points determine our winners for both categories. Voting is open until noon EST on December 28th, 2024. The winners will be listed with the rest of the Pits Categories on December 30th.
Any book published in 2024 is eligible. Grey areas like books of poetry can be listed in whichever category you think is most suitable. Preferably write the full title and author for any book you list.
I am slightly under qualified volunteer host for this category, but I am in the middle of reading two 2024 Books: Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar and How to Be a Renaissance Woman by Jill Burke. I will attempt to finish these books before I consider my vote official, but I think I’ll be happy with them as my personal picks for Fiction and Non-Fiction.
