Welcome to the weekly TV thread.
The Original TV Score Selection of the Week is “The Cerritos” from Chris Westlake’s score to the 2020 Star Trek: Lower Decks holodeck episode “Crisis Point.” It’s the first of many times Westlake parodied James Horner’s classic score from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan on Lower Decks, which now has just two episodes left in its fifth and final season.
The sequence this cue is from is the episode’s hilarious parody of the travel pod sequences from both Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Trek II. Boimler and his holographic recreations of the Cerritos senior staff gaze at their starship with wonder and pride for what feels like 45 minutes as their shuttlecraft heads to the Cerritos shuttle bay. But the funniest part is when the beauty of the Cerritos causes the holographic recreation of Paul Scheer’s Billups character to weep, and Holo-Ransom comforts him.
Today’s prompt is: Which spaceship from small-screen sci-fi or anime would make you cry like Billups if it was right in front of your face?
