Jeopardy! recap for Tue., Sept. 17

Here are today’s contestants:

Jeopardy!

HISTORICAL DECISIONS // PHILADELPHIA // OUT THERE IN RADIO LAND // HODGEPODGE // ABOUT THE AUTHOR // “IZE” & “EERS”

DD1 – $800 – OUT THERE IN RADIO LAND – Robert Plant made a pledge to Portland’s KBOO after hearing a DJ promise never to play this song if listeners donated (Will doubled to $6,400.)

Scores at first break: Aiden $0, Alisa $0, Will $7,400.

Scores entering DJ: Aiden $2,600, Alisa $400, Will $12,000.

Double Jeopardy!

FIRST LADIES’ FIRST NAMES // PLACING SOME GEOGRAPHY // SHORT-TITLED FILMS // CONVERSATIONAL VOCABULARY // MYTHOLOGICAL BROMANCE // SUPER HOT FIRE

DD2 – $1,600 – PLACING SOME GEOGRAPHY – “Walking the Length of” this country “in a Weekend” took a journalist along the Rhine to its southern border with Switzerland (Will dropped $3,600 from his score of $13,600 vs. $7,800 for Aiden.)

DD3 – $1,600 – MYTHOLOGICAL BROMANCE – Our time has Damon & Affleck; Greek legend had Damon & him, whose bond led the tyrant of Syracuse to spare them (From third place, Alisa lost $3,000 from her total of $5,200.)

Will had a big lead after round one, but didn’t do much in DJ, so it was a close one into FJ with Will at $13,200, Aiden with $11,000 and Alisa at $5,400.

Final Jeopardy!

CHARACTERS IN BOOK SERIES – This 12-year-old began his first book saying, “Look, I didn’t want to be a half-blood”

Aiden and Alisa were correct on FJ. Aiden doubled to $22,000 to win with a two-day total of $49,599.

Final scores: Aiden $22,000, Alisa $10,800, Will $4,399.

Musical miscues: No one knew the Philly musician with Special Sauce is G. Love, or in SUPER HOT FIRE, could name the band named after a “conflagration in an amusement hall”, Arcade Fire.

Wagering strategy: For the second straight game, Aiden made an FJ wager large enough to bring the third place player back into contention. If he had bet less than $200, Alisa would have been shut out and Aiden could have won when Will missed without having to be correct himself.

Correct Qs: DD1 – What is “Stairway to Heaven”? DD2 – What is Liechtenstein? DD3 – Who is Pythias? FJ – Who is Percy Jackson?
