Welcome to the 30 Day Challenge for July, where we’ll be looking at the STEM fields: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. I originally conceived of the as the Science & Math Challenge so those two categories will get more attention, but we will touch on all of them.
Today we want to talk about the intersection of science and politics. This is a pretty wide open topic so the conversation might go in a bunch of different directions. Some possibilities:
- What should government’s role be in regulating science? What the should the government’s role be in funding science?
- What are some of the best and worst examples of science being used to shape public policy?
- Are there any hot button science issues you feel strongly about?
Let’s be careful with this one. If there are differences of opinion it’s great to discuss but let’s not assume the worst about one another.
