Mornin’ Politocadoes!
Election news is incredibly depressing and annoying. So, continuing from a bid in Wednesday’s header, let’s endeavor to avoid talking about the Presidential election, which candidate’s mind has melted further, all that sorta thing. Lots of things happening in the world, as is its wont.
NATO recently condemned China for being an enabler of Russia’s war efforts in Ukraine. Throughout the conflict, China has stressed that they are a neutral party in the conflict. However, also throughout the conflict China has reaffirmed it’s “no-limits partnership” with Russia. The country has continued to supply Russia with large scale support for Russia’s defense industrial base with about 90% of Russia’s microelectronics coming from China which have been used to build missiles, tanks, and aircraft.
The communique from 32 members of the alliance read as follows:
“This increases the threat Russia poses to its neighbors and to Euro-Atlantic security. We call on the PRC, as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council with a particular responsibility to uphold the purposes and principles of the U.N. Charter, to cease all material and political support to Russia’s war effort,”
The sternly worded memo clearly shows that NATO sees shared security concerns in Russia and its Asian supporters. Between Beijing’s vow to only continue trade with Russia and North Korea recently signing a pact of “fiery friendship” with Moscow, NATO has cause to worry. So long as countries continue to supply Russia with materials needed to continue their war, and refuse to condemn the war itself, these action will continue to be justified.
China has responded by advising that NATO not bring its chaos to Asia at the cost seeking security. Spokesperson Lin Jian defended China’s trade relationship by claiming it is legitimate and reasonable since it operates within the WTO’s framework. He also claimed that NATO’s accusations of China’s responsibility for the war in Ukraine is unreasonable and has “sinister” motives.
Welcome to Thursday! Please be excellent to each other in the comments. The Mayor McSquirrel Rule remains in effect. Something to keep in mind! Police are using digital data to prosecute abortion seekers, and Facebook and Google are helping them! Even if they are not legally required to do so, the tech giants will aid them in this since it’s technically *against the law*. Please be careful when looking for abortion providers or helping someone who is looking for that assistance.
