So the past week and change has felt like a century for various reasons (much happier reasons than the last time this happened), and I’m coming to accept that this year will likely be atypical as far as artwork’s concerned. I’ve been meaning to get back on the creative wagon but recent personal events could complicate things. Not going into specifics, but some good fortune fell my way last weekend, and it’s scrambled my brain a little as it’s rewritten a lot of former certainties in my life. It’s been more than a little hard to concentrate with everything going through my head. And I’m going to New York next week for the first time since the millennium; this’ll actually be my first proper visit, as the two times I’ve been before, one was when I was four and the other was only for a day (Black Friday 2000 while staying with friends in New Jersey for Thanksgiving). I’ll be there for the better part of a week this time, staying in Greenwich Village, seeing what I can see and doing what I can do.
Speaking of which, I’m coming back next Monday (the 27th), which means I’ll probably not have the time or inclination to do that week’s thread. If Nick or anyone else would like to take over, by all means do so. I’m fine with doing a placeholder thread, but figure this would be the better option. Purposefully planning a quieter June, though who knows if that’ll happen (I’m going to Chicago in July, too)? I’m not begrudging myself this fallow period under the circumstances, but it still feels weird (not complaining).
