Originally announced way back in 2017 and going through a few changes before heading into production, the Transformers One prequel animated film has now arrived with its first trailer. The project has Josh Cooley directing it from the screenplay by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari. Cooley’s directorial debut was with Toy Story 4 in 2019 and he has two other films in the work after this with Malamander and Little monsters.
The film is set for a September 20th, 2024 release through Paramount Pictures and animation by Industrial Light & Magic.
The announced cast includes:
- Chris Hemsworth as Orion Pax / Optimus Prime
- Brian Tyree Henry as D-16 / Megatron
- Scarlett Johansson as Elita-1
- Keegan-Michael Key as B-127 / Bumblebee
- Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime
- Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion
Additional cast includes Steve Buscemi and confirmation of other characters showing up such as Shockwave, Starscream, and Soundwave but with no actors connected to them yet.
Plot Concept: Described as an “origin story” set on the planet Cybertron, the film will center on the relationship between Optimus Prime and Megatron going from brothers-in-arms to archenemies.
