Towards the end of the Age of Strife, the Emperor crafted 20 magical clone babies that he called Primarchs. The forces of Chaos didn’t like the Emperor very much, so they kidnapped his magical clone babies and threw them randomly all over the galaxy, and the Emperor had all kinds of adventures finding them again. This thread is about the first magical clone baby the Emperor recovered – Horus Lupercal, Primarch of the 16th Legion.
Horus, known as Ol’ Baldy to his friends, crash-landed on the planet Cthonia, which was practically in Earth’s backyard. It had been colonized by humanity over 15,000 years by the time Horus arrived, and boy had we effed the place up. It was a polluted sprawl of cyberpunk arcologies and 80s gang warfare. The poor kid wasn’t even allowed to have a name until he killed someone important.
Eventually, he did kill someone important, and not too long afterwards, his Dad, the Emperor, landed on the planet and adopted him. For almost 30 years, Horus was the only Magical Clone Baby recovered, so he grew up to be closest to his father, and the most in-tune with what his dad wanted in a son. Ol’ Baldy was quick to make friends with all of his brothers as they were discovered.
Eventually, Horus would get wounded in battle and his men would take him to the Evil Chaos Den of Evil Chaos Healing, not knowing that anyone who got healed there would become infected by Evil Chaos. After becoming infected with Evil Chaos, Horus would rebel against the Emperor, convincing no fewer than 9 of his brothers to join him, and they broke their daddy’s heart.
