The Impeached President on Trial for Crimes seems to think that Thomas Edison invented the wheel.

While speaking about how great CaveDaddy Elon Musk is Trump went on a bit about protecting American innovation. There are a slew of questions with regard to his virulent anti-immigration policies scaring away the innovators of tomorrow, but okay. In any case,, while praising Elon Musk while also clearly not knowing what Elon Musk does, Trump claimed to want to protect inventors who make things like the Lightbulb or The Wheel.

I get that he was ad-libbing but the first place he goes to is the wheel, a cornerstone of civilization. The Wheel, a useful tool probably invented somewhere in the Middle East by a Middle Eastern person thousands of years ago. This is where his cottage cheese brain went.
The President is dumb and bad.
The Senate trial for the Impeachment of said Dumb and Bad President rolls on. The Republicans have largely kept in line, having voted against amendmenst to rule changes in the trial. It’s frankly embarrassing to all involved when Ted Cruz claims that the testimony of Hunter Biden is absolutely necessary to the trial with a straight face. Any ‘moderate’ Senate Republicans has basically seen their political future evaporate.
Chief Justice John Roberts appears to be phoning it in like a disinterested referee. The one time he spoke out was concerning decorum in the Senate, scolding both the Democrats and the Republicans for making it personal. Jesus, he’s Both-Sidesing it. Any hope that he would do anything of use is out the window, to my view.
But through it all, Adam Schiff has been a shining beacon. Someone who clearly knows what is right and what is wrong here. And I can only hope that he can get through to at least one Senator.

At the end of it, we still have a Presidential election to win. Whomever wins the nomination, we have to show up for. I know that we all have our complaints and grievances with the various contenders but we have to keep our eyes on the prize. The most sobering thing I can think of, is the possibility that Trump could also be the first Impeached President to win re-election. We must needs to be reminded of that chance, however slim.
