I suppose that makes Martin Scorsese’s 1988 masterpiece The Last Temptation of Christ my favorite Easter-themed film. Anchored by a fully-committed performance from Willem Dafoe and elevated to the heavens by Peter Gabriel’s brilliant score, this is the very definition of a “passion” project.
I’m not a believer, but this film helped me understand why people connect to this story more than going to mass every week for the first 15 years of my life.
