Recently, another Avocado asked the question about TV show credits you never skip.
Somehow, I forgot about the brilliant credits of the short-lived comedy starring yesterday’s birthday boy Leslie Nielsen: Police Squad!
For a show that lasted only six episodes, Police Squad! attracted some big names to guest star in each episode, including William Shatner and Robert Goulet.
Unfortunately, none of them survive the opening credits (although Goulet would be resurrected as the villain for The Naked Gun 2½).
Other notable appearances:
- John Belushi shot a “guest star” segment, but died before it aired. A new scene was shot with veteran actor and episode director Georg Stanford Brown.
- Florence Henderson, in likely the most violent on-screen moment of her career
