Hello. It is about that time again. I have posted a similar thread for the US midterms in 2022. And how did that go? Well, it went how it went.

Anyways, I hope to turn this thread header into a list of campaigns and organizations related to the US elections that we at the Avocado feel could use support in the next few months. Whether that means money, signatures, canvasing, march participation, that is up to you. I do ask people to consider a few things:

• Should the focus be on the Presidential Election? This was not an issue in the midterms, but it is now. If this is how you feel, then that is a legitimate opinion that can be discussed.
• On the other hand, are the organizations and causes that you genuinely feel are significantly more important and deserving of support right now? State your case.
• Do you believe that this thread is in itself a bad idea? If so, why?

For other candidates:

• How competitive is the seat? Would our support be needed and well utilized? Our time, efforts, and funds are limited. Campaigns that have no hope or no need for us are…well…probably not high priority.
• How great are these candidates? They need not be perfect, but what are their principles, policies, and plans that you particularly like?
• It is tempting to gripe about how terrible politicians are. Okay. Well, if one is particularly heinous, how is that person’s opponent? Even if not an ideal candidate, should that opponent be supported?
• Okay, maybe the candidate is not super great and the opponent is not necessarily the worst, but maybe the seat itself is strategic; that gaining it or defending it is really important.
• Are there organizations that you feel can do all of the above work for us? Are they vetted? Should we throw money or whatever their way?

That is it for now. I will alter this header depending on how this goes. What do I expect from this? I don’t know. But little bits of good can add up. So, have at it.
