What’s It Got In It’s Pocketses? (Feb 3)

That’s right, we’re bringing it back! Let’s share what we’ve discovered online that’s been making us miss our bus stops, filling up our lunch breaks, and distracting us when we really should be going to bed. Have you come across any engrossing long-form articles recently? What’s the last podcast episode that had you hooked? Tell us about that YouTube essay that captivated you.

Here’s something I’ve had bookmarked for half a year now, but remains an excellent, informative read, in case you missed it: William Langewiesche’s article in the Atlantic, What Really Happened to Malaysia’s Missing Airplane,  is very enlightening about a terrible event I realised I knew little more about than the fleeting media headlines of the time.

America’s Radioactive Secret, Justin Nobel’s disturbing feature investigating a looming environmental crisis and co-published by the EHRP and Rolling Stone, is frightening but essential reading:

Boy, that Super Bowl half-time show sure was something, wasn’t it? (note: I didn’t watch it.) Anyway, here’s The Oral History of Prince’s Appearance in 2007, by Alan Siegel on the Ringer.

I’ve enjoyed other people’s opinions and interpretations of Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding more than I ever would actually playing it. If you’ve got a spare ninety minutes for an in-depth dissection, Noah Caldwell-Gervais’ Trying to Untangle Death Stranding is an excellent, thoughtful review of the game.

My favourite podcast at the moment is The Score: Bank Robber Diaries, which tells the story of Joe Loya, an intelligent and articulate man who, yes, robbed banks. Thirty of them in fourteen months, to be exact. It’s certainly not what I expected when I started the first episode.
