Batroc the Leaper was created in 1966 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and first appeared in issue of 75 of Tales of Suspense. The moustachioed French villain is a master of kickboxing style savate – also known as “La Boxe Française” – and is really, really good at leaping.

Usually a Capatin America enemy, over the years he has also fought everyone including Deadpool, Hawkeye, Iron Fist, the Punisher, and Spider-Man.

In Captain America: Civil War, he was played by former UFC mixed martial artist Georges St-Pierre, sporting his comic-book colours of plum and amber, but not quite as goofily.
