What’s that? You say you don’t love Orange Bird? You say you don’t even know who Orange Bird is? That’s okay! That can be easily remedied!

This is Orange Bird!

He was created by Disney to be the mascot for the Florida Citrus Commission, and appeared in all sorts of ads for Florida Oranges in the 70s and 80s. Ever since 1971, he can be seen at Sunshine Tree Terrace in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. It sells frozen orange juice!

You love him.

Because Orange Bird is SO UNIVERSALLY BELOVED, Disney has created all sorts of merchandise to celebrate him!

Some of it is very expensive!

 

But that’s a small price to pay to show the world your love for Orange Bird. After all, everybody loves Orange Bird.

I can see that you are still not convinced. I understand. I was like you once. I could not fathom why one would ever want to spend their hard-earned money on items depicting a bird with an orange for a head, who cannot speak and who is most famous for appearing on a sign that denotes the location of frosty orange treats.

I was blind. Just as you are now.

But fear not! Sooner or later, it will happen. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, maybe not even this year. But eventually. You will come across an image of the Orange Bird, and you will react with excitement, even as you immediately find yourself wondering why, exactly, you have done this. Do not be alarmed. It is all right, everything is all right, the struggle is finished. You have won the victory over yourself.
