Jeopardy! recap for Mon., Dec. 3

Jeopardy! recap for Mon., Dec. 3 – Introducing today’s contestants:

– Bernadette, an attorney from Maryland, volunteers to teach people how to wear children;
– Dave, a retired police officer from Pennsylvania, has an impressive mustache since retirement; and
– Elizabeth, a housewife from Michigan, discussed poetry with Justice Scalia. Elizabeth is a one-day champ with winnings of $4,799.

Outstanding game in which Elizabeth led most of the way, but Dave rallied boldly late with the help of running a film category, taking first place into FJ with $17,200 vs. $16,600 for Elizabeth and $10,200 for Bernadette.

DD1 – GRIMM FAIRY TALES – After a poor peasant’s wife grows ill, she gives birth to a tiny son whom they name this (Elizabeth won $4,000)

DD2 – ART BOOKS – The diary of young Julie Manet has been published as “Growing Up with” this group of painters (Elizabeth won $4,000 – this DD was found under an $800 clue, and if she’d bet just a bit more from her total of $10,200, she would have won the game.)

DD3 – NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARKS – The Plummer Building, named for Henry Plummer, M.D., is a landmark part of this Minnesota facility (Bernadette lost $2,000)

FJ – AMERICAN BUSINESS – Last name of John, Daniel, Elisha & Edward, whose firm turned 200 in 2018 & has dressed 40 U.S. Presidents

Both Dave and Elizabeth were correct on FJ. Dave added $16,601 to win with $33,801.

Triple Stumper of the day: A clue reference to something that was passed “on its way to Sochi” didn’t lead the contestants to the Olympic torch.

Jeopardy! rule book: For FJ, Elizabeth very nearly wrote “Brooks Brothers”, the name of the firm rather than the last name of the brothers. I assume that if she had left “Brothers” in the response she would have been ruled correct.

One more thing: Dave mustache brought to mind another policeman with distinctive facial hair who become a legendary Jeopardy! champion, Frank Spangenberg

Correct Qs:
DD1 – What is Tom Thumb?
DD2 – Who are the impressionists?
DD3 – What is the Mayo Clinic?
FJ – What is Brooks?
