Jeopardy! recap for Fri., Sept. 14

Jeopardy! recap for Fri., Sept. 14 – Today’s contestants are:

– Andrew, a digital journalist from Ontario, whose son took him for a flight on his birthday;
– Riley, a college admissions officer from Alabama, named for a short-term Arkansas governor; and
– Kyle, a music teacher from Colorado, who shouted out to Marie and Katie. Kyle is a three-day champ with winnings of $38,000.

Kyle was correct on his DD opportunity in DJ while Andrew missed his, and that was the difference in Kyle having a runaway at $20,800 vs. $10,200 for Andrew, while Riley finished in the red at -$400.

DD1 – MULTI-WORD CAPITAL CITIES – Developed by King Norodom, this capital city lies at the confluence of the Mekong, Bassac & Tonle Sap Rivers (Andrew won $1,000)

DD2 – 1973 – His death on Jan. 22, 2 days after Nixon’s second inauguration, left no living ex-U.S. Presidents (Andrew lost $3,000)

DD3 – LIVE ENTERTAINMENT – Dizzy Gillespie & Diana Krall are among those who have played at this musical event first held in Northern California in 1958 (Kyle won $1,000)

FJ – SPORTS HALLS OF FAME – Posthumously, Axel Paulsen was among the first group of inductees into the World Hall of Fame for this in 1976

Only Kyle was correct on FJ but he chose to stand pat at $20,800 for a three-day total of $58,800.

Judging the writers: A clue made reference to a “fitting hit” performed by Bonnie Tyler on a cruise ship, which appeared to lead Riley to an incorrect response. Alex then explained that there was an eclipse as she sang “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, but the players can’t be blamed for wondering why that song was “fitting” when there wasn’t much in the clue to make that clear.

Correct Qs:
DD1 – What is Phnom Penh?
DD2 – Who was LBJ?
DD3 – What is the Monterey Jazz Festival?
FJ – What is figure skating?
