Inspired by Friday’s recipe thread I thought about food that I am willing to go a great distance for. It may be in an inconvenient part of town (can’t get there from here), a truly long road trip, or perhaps even crossing an ocean for that meal you just can’t get anywhere else and nothing else will do. I’m fortunate to live near Chicago and all the types of cuisines it has to offer, but would travel 6-1/2 hours in the car to eat at an Indian restaurant in Columbus, OH. Full disclosure- my in-laws live there so it’s a dual purpose trip and we wouldn’t have known of the place if not for them. Sadly the place closed around the end of 2017 so now we just go there to see family. I will go to great lengths around home too, Calumet Fisheries is almost 40 miles from me but when the itch for fish hits it’s worth the drive.

How about you? How far are you willing to go for a meal? I’m not really asking about a singular favorite meal in your memory but something that you really do have to go out of your way to get that food again and you actually do so.
