Happiest’s Trailer Park Is Back, Baby!

After a week soaking up the sun and other celestial bodies in Florida, Happiest and their motley collection of trailers and rvs are back! And we have quite a good collection for you all this week.

ANON

“Sal Frieland(Clive Owen) is a detective in a world with no privacy or anonymity; where everyone’s lives are transparent, traceable, and recorded by the authorities; where crime almost ceases to exist. But in trying to solve a series of murders, Frieland stumbles on a young woman known only as the Girl(Amanda Seyfried). She has no identity, no history and is invisible to the cops. Sal realizes this may not be the end of crime, but the beginning.”

Netflix doesn’t have the best track record for original movies (*cough* Bright *cough*), but this trailer is at least pretty thrilling. There’s a lot of potential in the premise here, and I’m hoping there’s more extreme cyberpunk reality hacking weirdness than what the trailer shows.

Anon hacks into Netflix May 4, Directed by Andrew Niccol

DEADPOOL 2

“After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.”

So besides TJ Miller (I wouldn’t be surprised if he does something else stupid before the movies release) all signs point to this being just as irreverent and fun as the first film. And with his origin out of the way, Deadpool 2 has the potential to be even better than the first.

Deadpool will be slicing really fast bullets in theaters May 18, Directed by David Leitch

HERIDITARY

“When the matriarch of the Graham family dies, her daughter, Annie (Toni Collette), suspects a presence was left behind, which has a bizarre focus on her teenage daughter, Charlie (Milly Shapiro). With the household under threat by a supernatural force, Annie must explore the darkness to escape their inherited fate”

One of the breakout films from Sundance, A24 recently released a new trailer for the film focusing on Charlie. Hereditary has been on my watchlist since it’s Sundance premiere, and I’m almost excited for it to come out as that burning man is to hug Toni Collette.

Hereditary will be making us terrified of children and model houses June 8, Directed by Ari Aster

HOTEL ARTEMIS

“In HOTEL ARTEMIS, set in riot-torn, near-future Los Angeles, Jodie Foster plays The Nurse, who runs a secret, members-only emergency room for criminals. Surrounded by an all-star cast that includes Sterling K. Brown, Sofia Boutella, Jeff Goldblum, Brian Tyree Henry, Jenny Slate, Zachary Quinto, Charlie Day, and Dave Bautista”

Huh. I have no idea how I didn’t know about this movie until just now, but goddamn am I excited for this. This is the kind of goofy, heightened action movies I was hoping would be greenlit after the success of John Wick. The whole cast looks incredible, and I’m happy to see Charlie Day is now becoming the go-to guy for comic relief in an action movie.

Hotel Artemis will be open for business June 8, Directed and Written by Drew Pearce

JURASSIC WORLD FALLEN KINGDOM

“It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles. When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times. With all of the wonder, adventure and thrills synonymous with one of the most popular and successful series in cinema history, this all-new motion-picture event sees the return of favorite characters and dinosaurs—along with new breeds more awe-inspiring and terrifying than ever before. Welcome to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.”

For some reason Universal doesn’t allow playback on linked videos, so you’re gonna have to go to the trailer directly if you want to see this.

I can’t say I’m all that excited for Fallen Kingdom. The reveal that the genetically engineered Dino in this one is just a slightly different looking Velociraptor is… pretty underwhelming. Jeff Goldblum does give me hope though.

Fallen Kingdom will be stuck in a truck with a TRex starting June 22, Directed by JA Byona (This film will apparently follow the first films trend of being helmed by indie filmmakers who have no experience directing big budget blockbusters)

CRAZY RICH ASIANS

The story follows native New Yorker Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) as she accompanies her longtime boyfriend, Nick Young (Henry Golding), to his best friend’s wedding in Singapore. Excited about visiting Asia for the first time but nervous about meeting Nick’s family, Rachel is unprepared to learn that Nick has neglected to mention a few key details about his life. It turns out that he is not only the scion of one of the country’s wealthiest families but also one of its most sought-after bachelors. Being on Nick’s arm puts a target on Rachel’s back, with jealous socialites and, worse, Nick’s own disapproving mother (Michelle Yeoh) taking aim. And it soon becomes clear that while money can’t buy love, it can definitely complicate things.”

Based on the book of the same name, it’s great to see a romantic comedy starring and created by asians. Whether it’s good or bad, CRA will be noteworthy and commendable for being a diverse romantic comedy in a genre primarily dominated by whiteness. A breath of fresh air drifting across a sea of mayonnaise. Also, it stars Constance Wu, if you needed another reason to be interested.

Crazy Rich Asians will be crazy rich starting Aug 17

“One of Marvel’s most enigmatic, complex and badass characters comes to the big screen, starring Academy Award® nominated actor Tom Hardy as the lethal protector Venom.”

Even if the movie ends up being terrible, we’ll still have Tom Hardy doing what sounds like an Adam Sandler impression, and that alone makes this a much watch. I also really like the Jekkyl and Hyde thing Tom Hardy and his symbiote seem to have going on, and I hope the bulk of the movie will be based around their relationship. I didn’t think I’d be saying this a month ago, but I’m excited for the Venom movie.

Venom will start working for the evil person Oct 5. Directed by Ruben Fleischer

As always, if you’ve caught any new trailers or teasers I may have missed, post them below!
