We bake bread fairly frequently but it’s always an occasion when those loaves first come out of the oven and you can hear the crust cracking as it cools and the moisture escapes.

We have a tried and true recipe that’s based on the artisan bread in the book Bread Alone by Daniel Leader and Judith Blahnik. I’ve talked about this bread before and to me it never gets old. Toasted with Gorgonzola and honey!

I’ve never made French toast with this bread, I think this is the week.
