Each day that ticked by brought Peg Grumpkowski closer to getting out of this godforsaken landscape. Each night she did her best to keep people safe, taking matters into her own hands as needed, but there was still so much death in the air…
She checked on her target for tonight, made sure their door was extra secure. Satisfied, she left and went back to her room. She thought she heard some rattling as she walked away but it was probably just the howling winds. She got back to her room and started getting ready to sleep when there was a knock on her door.
“Hello?”
Nothing. She cautiously approached, and opened the door just a crack. But it was enough. The click of the bomb was the last thing she heard.
