Werewolf 42: Cyberpunk 2 Car 1: A Train to Catch

The Resistance had seen a resurgence in strength since 2 years prior. The base invasion had left them with fewer members, but more determination. They had rid themselves of the System moles and survived the worst of the attacks.

Now, they were on the brink of overcoming the System. The once small Resistance had become a large counter-force. They wouldn’t win the war with soldiers and mechs, but they were winning the war of the people. Sin had become a household name. Sure, people would say it in whispers, but they would say it.

Beatrix Isolde stood in the Resistance base, wearing her usual blue dress and metal-rimmed glasses. She looked down at the members below. Some of her best assets were here, from the weird, sexy robot murder guy, Subaru, to the weird biker Quentin. Not exactly a standard outfit, but B had learned to improvise. She had never been very good at it before she joined the Resistance, but by the ninth trial by fire, anyone can develop a sense for improvisation.

Just as she considered how well things had been going, a huge quake struck the base. Earthquakes weren’t uncommon in the city, but the shaking here was more than seemed natural. The earth above them began to audibly crumble.

“WAS THAT YOU, SAM?” B asked, shouting over the noise.

“NOT THIS TIME!” Sam shouted back.

A creak and several extremely loud snaps let them know that a piece of the base had come apart. Trying to figure out which piece of the base was affected, Taylor shouted “Oh shit! Was that–?”

Everything clicked into place then. Gh0st and Killinger began shouting orders. Killinger loaded everyone he could fit into the transport chopper. They took off as quickly as they could and lifted out of the underground base, now half-crumbling. What they saw, only Killinger, Taylor, and B expected. A huge crane was placing a large chunk of earth and metal onto a cargo train. Just as the chunk touched down, the crane snapped its line and the train began to jet forward. The helicopter could only barely keep up.

“IT’S ABOUT TO HIT THE MAIN LINE. I CAN’T KEEP UP MUCH LONGER. YOU GUYS NEED TO JUMP!” Killinger shouted over the wind.

“WHAT’S IN THE BOX?” asked Konrad, “OUR MONEY? EQUIPMENT?”

“MUCH WORSE,” replied Killinger as he waved each person down the ropes out of the copter, “SIN.”

In all, 22 of the Resistance agents were loaded onto the train before the helicopter could no longer keep pace. They were aboard the back section of the train. A few System agents were quickly dispatched and they began working their way forward. As the last of them entered the second car, the doors slammed shut, being barred by some sort of security system. As this happened, the train went through a tunnel. There were no lights on inside of the car, so there was little shock and confusion for the several minutes they were in the tunnel.

When the train exited the tunnel and the sunlight allowed everyone see, two of the agents were dead. The twins, Ruby and Rudi Redshirt had both been strangled.

Gh0st’s voice came in over their radio, “Strike team, come in. Do you hear me strike team?”

“We hear you,” replied Crushinator, in her robotic voice. “We seem to have a problem, here.”
